El cabaret cubano Tropicana, conocido como el\u00a0Para\u00edso bajo las estrellas<\/i><\/em>, rompe con los esquemas tradicionales y se ubica al aire libre en una zona arbolada. Fue construido en 1939 en los antiguos terrenos de la hacienda Villa Mina, en la zona de Marianao, La Habana. En 1940 adopt\u00f3 el nombre actual por sugerencia del core\u00f3grafo y director de espect\u00e1culos Sergio Orta, inspir\u00e1ndose en la melod\u00eda del compositor y flautista Alfredo Brito, all\u00ed se estren\u00f3.<\/p>\n Inicialmente un empresario instal\u00f3 en ese fabuloso lugar una especie de restaurante night club para unas 300 personas, con salas de juego, y lo convirti\u00f3 en uno de los casinos m\u00e1s concurridos del continente. Tambi\u00e9n mantuvo la arboleda con el ambiente tropical: palmas reales, mangos, cedros y otros. Las actuaciones de Tropicana han sido aclamadas en todo el mundo. Lugares tan diversos como el Royal Albert Hall de Londres, Monte Carlo Sporting Club Monaco, Friedrichstadt Palace Berlin y Broadway Beacon Theatre, Nueva York.\u00a0<\/p>\n En 1954, el dise\u00f1ador franc\u00e9s Pierre Balmain present\u00f3 el\u00a0El verano<\/i><\/em> colecci\u00f3n en \u00e9l. En el verano de 1996, la dise\u00f1adora de moda japonesa Junko Koshino, present\u00f3 su desfile de moda en el \u201cSal\u00f3n Bajo las Estrellas\u201d. En 1992, la Academia Norteamericana de la Industria de Restaurantes otorg\u00f3 al cabaret el premio Best of the Five Stars Diamond al mejor cabaret de Estados Unidos.
