72 A STREET. MARIANAO<\/h6>\n

Tropicana Cuban cabaret, known as the\u00a0Paradise under the stars<\/i><\/em>, breaks with traditional schemes and is located outdoors in a wooded area.\u00a0It was built in\u00a01939\u00a0on the old land of the Villa Mina farm, in the\u00a0Marianao\u00a0area,\u00a0Havana.\u00a0In\u00a01940 it\u00a0adopted the current name when the choreographer and show director\u00a0Sergio Orta\u00a0suggested it, inspired by the melody of the composer and flutist\u00a0Alfredo Brito, premiered there.<\/p>\n

Initially an entrepreneur installed in that fabulous place a kind of night club restaurant for around 300 people, with gambling rooms, and turned it into one of the busiest casinos on the continent. It also kept the grove with the tropical environment: royal palms, mangoes, cedars and others. Tropicana’s performances have been acclaimed worldwide.\u00a0Places as diverse as the Royal Albert Hall in\u00a0London, Monte Carlo Sporting Club\u00a0Monaco, Friedrichstadt Palace\u00a0Berlin\u00a0and Broadway Beacon Theater,\u00a0New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In\u00a01954, the French designer\u00a0Pierre Balmain\u00a0presented the\u00a0Summer<\/i><\/em> collection on it.\u00a0In the summer of\u00a01996, the Japanese fashion designer Junko Koshino, presented her fashion show at the “Under the Stars Salon”. In\u00a01992\u00a0the North American Academy of the Restaurant Industry gave the cabaret the\u00a0Best of the Five Stars Diamond Award for\u00a0the best cabaret in\u00a0America. The great symbol of Tropicana is the sculpture of a dancer made by the Cuban artist\u00a0Rita Longa\u00a0in\u00a01950\u00a0and, to a lesser extent, the Fountain of the Muses, by the Italian\u00a0Aldo Gamba, installed since\u00a01952\u00a0at the entrance of the mythical cabaret.<\/p>\n

This cabaret has always been nourished by the\u00a0ballet, the circus, the carnival, boleros, cha-cha, danz\u00f3n, salsa, rumba and all traditional Cuban\u00a0dances to achieve its creative artistic show, whose fame has traveled the world.<\/p>\n

Countless Cuban and international stars have performed on the stages of this cabaret.\u00a0It is nuanced by\u00a0Cuban Folklore, by the color, variety of rhythms, the beauty and grace of the dancers and the quality of the artists. Some of the most important artists are:<\/p>\n
